Branding

Make what sets you apart come through.

I work with founders and teams to define what their business stands for and how it shows up—in the words, the identity, and the details people come to recognise.

Where I come in

You know what makes your business different. It isn’t coming through yet.

People need a long explanation before they get it. The website says one thing, the deck says another. The business has moved forward, but the brand still feels like an earlier version of you.

What I look for

Where the brand starts to feel unclear.

  • Positioning that sounds familiar

The words could belong to several businesses in your space. What makes yours worth choosing gets lost.

  • An offer that takes explaining

You know the value of what you do, but it takes too long for someone else to understand it.

  • An identity you’ve outgrown

What worked when you started no longer reflects the business, the quality of your work, or where you’re going.

  • A different brand everywhere

Your website, decks, and product look and sound like different businesses. There’s little tying them together.

  • Visuals that don’t feel connected

Every new piece starts from scratch. The details change enough that the brand becomes harder to recognise.

  • Guidelines that don’t guide enough

Your team has the logo and colours, but still has to figure out how to use the brand in everyday materials.

My process

How I work through a brand.

01 / Discovery

Get to know the business behind it.

I start with what you do, who you do it for, and why people choose you. We look at your ambitions, your audience, and the space you’re building in.

Typical outputs:

  • 01Founder and team conversations
  • 02Review of existing brand materials
  • 03Audience and competitor insights
  • 04Agreed brief and priorities

How I think about the work

Your brand should feel like your business, wherever people meet it.

The way you describe what you do, the way you look, and the experience people have with you all contribute to the same impression. I work through those connections.

  1. 01

    Start with the business

I get into what you offer, why people choose you, and where you want to go. Those details give the brand its direction.

  2. 02

    Bring words and visuals together

I develop the story and identity alongside each other, so what the brand says and how it feels support the same idea.

  3. 03

    Find what makes it yours

I look for details rooted in your business, your perspective, and your audience. They give people something specific to recognise and remember.

  4. 04

    Design for everyday use

I work through the identity on real materials early. It needs to hold together in a presentation, on a website, and in the things your team makes every week.

  5. 05

    Leave room to grow

I build enough structure to keep the brand consistent and enough flexibility for new offers, audiences, and formats.

Ways to work together

A clearer direction, a new identity, or both.

Whether you’re starting something new or rethinking an established business, we can begin with the part that needs attention.

Frequently asked questions

A few things you might be wondering.

Yes. We start by looking at what still feels right and what needs to change. The scope might be a focused refresh or a more complete rethink.

Per project. I look at the scope and what you’re trying to achieve, then recommend the structure that suits it best. One-time project fees generally work well. I also take on monthly retainers for 2–3 months, with each month scoped to a set goal.

We need a clear understanding of your business, audience, and positioning. If you already have that work, I can build from it. If there are gaps, we work through them before moving into design.

Yes. We can work with the parts of the identity that still serve the business and develop the system around them.

We agree on the materials you need before starting. These might include presentation templates, social templates, stationery, or other assets your team uses regularly.

Yes. Websites and decks are a separate offering, and we can scope them alongside the branding work so everything develops together.

Brand strategy usually takes about a week. A logo takes around two weeks, and about one more week if you need other brand assets developed alongside it. If you need it faster, we can plan for that. I generally recommend 3–4 weeks for the whole process, and we adjust the timeline to what your team needs and how decisions get made. We agree on the timeline and review stages before starting.

The Complexity Gap

You know the product and industry inside out. The people buying or using it bring different levels of knowledge and experience. The work is in making that complexity manageable throughout the product—helping beginners get started, supporting people as their needs grow, and giving experts the depth and control they need.

The Retention Gap

Getting someone to try a product is one thing. Becoming part of their day-to-day workflow is another. That comes down to how well it helps them do their job—how naturally it fits into their work, how much easier it makes important tasks, and whether it gives them a reason to keep using it.

The Growth Gap

The business moves forward, but the experience doesn’t always keep up. The story reflects an earlier stage, the website struggles with new content, and the product feels different depending on where you are. Growth, engineering, business, and design teams spend more time explaining, fixing, and working around the gaps. It gets frustrating for everyone.
